Hey Cougars! It’s Love of Reading Week!  This year’s theme is “Short but Sweet.” Can you identify your LA teachers’ favorite short stories? The answer to yesterday’s clue was “The Hitchhiker” by Roald Dahl. Only two students submitted guesses, but fortunately they were both correct–Hadon Poryanda and Ayden Barns. Here is today’s clue. What’s going on in Mrs. Jackson’s favorite short? The clue is: The townspeople are upon her as she screams about the unfairness on their annual tradition and the slips blow away in the wind… If you know the answer, get a ticket from your advisory teacher and turn it into the box in the library. Several winners will be drawn each day to win gift cards to the book fair.

Several amazing artists submitted entries for the Love of Reading Week book jacket contest. Third place goes to  Natalie Smith  with an amazing computer animated cover of What If It’s Us . Second place belongs to Rachel Stulik, with a terrifying rendition of Fahrenheit 451. The honor of first place goes to Mya Quiroga with an amazing and intricate cover worthy of publication for The Fantastic Beasts.

And remember to love reading all year long!

Students–if you have won any of the Love of Reading Contests, see Mrs. Vera ASAP for your prize for the book fair!

Cougars, Student Council will be selling carnations until next Thursday, after school today and during lunches next week. Buy one for your special friend, parents, teachers, anyone you want.  Only one dollar. See Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Couzens, or Mrs. Willard with questions.

and Calleigh Kinkead. See Mrs. Vera for your prize. Here is The clue for
Mr. Costa’s favorite short, it goes like this: A story in the dark,
winter woods
about old enemies who become new friends just in time for a wild dinner
party. If you know the answer, get a ticket from your advisory teacher and
turn it into the box in the library. Several winners will be drawn
each day to win gift cards to the book fair.
