Vicki Williams Potter:
I have an eighth grader here at DSMS. Tucson is my home town – I grew up here and graduated from the University of Arizona (Go Cats!). We joined the Vail School District when my kiddo was in the first grade and our family returned to Tucson after my husband retired from the military. I love being a volunteer at DSMS and have been active with the DSMS PTA Board for the last 2 years, and am currently serving as the President. Our staff, students, and families are amazing, and I am happy to support school activities and functions whenever I can. I want to join the Site Council to become even more involved with our wonderful A+ school!
I am currently a stay at home mom. I have a degree in behavioral health and have worked with the disabled, the elderly, and with children. I am currently on the board of directors for Tucson Homeless Connect. I also volunteer with Tucson Veterans Serving Veterans. A nonprofit for homeless veterans and veterans at risk of becoming homeless. I have been volunteering at my son’s schools in the Vail school district for 9 years. I would like to join the Site Council to be further involved in serving the Desert Sky Middle School community.
I‘ve lived in Tucson most of my life and have been actively involved in serving our community for the past 13 years. Both of my kids, Ethan and Keegan, attend Desert Sky. I deeply care about them and I care about their school. I’ve been thankful for the role Desert Sky has played in their lives. I would love to give back by serving on the Site Council. I would be honored if you considered me for the position. Thank you.

Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, I am one of the few natives of southern Arizona. I graduated, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Prior to attending the University of Arizona, I attended Pima Community college where I received an Associate of Arts degree, with Honors; an Associate of General Studies, with Honors; and a Liberal Arts Certification. Throughout my time in college, I maintained a 4.0 GPA, was a member of and President of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor’s Society at the University of Arizona, as well as Phi Theta Kapa Honor Society though Pima Community College. I am married and together we have three beautiful children, whom are also in the Vail Unified School District, and keep us very busy with their academics and extra curricular activities such as softball and baseball.

I am happy to represent the certified staff of Desert Sky Middle School. This is my 8th year as a member of this wonderful school and my 13th year in Vail. I spent the first 9 years teaching science, both at Corona Foothills and here at DSMS. Four years ago I had the opportunity to change direction and joined the Special Education team as a Behavior Specialist. When I’m not busy helping our students here, I am a mom of 6 adult “kids” and 8 sweet grandkiddles. If we are on a break, you can bet I’m in LA visiting all of those babies. Thank-you for allowing me to help shape our amazing school 🙂

My husband and I moved to Rita Ranch in 1999. Both of our sons were born here. I completed a 4-year degree in Business Management, and have worked in the Vail School District as an Inclusion Parapro for 11 years. Since moving to Tucson, our family has volunteered for numerous committees and events. This school year (2019 – 2020) I am proud to have been selected as a new member of the Desert Sky Middle School Site Council.
