Meet Our Site Council

Jon Carlyon, Parent/Community Representative

Amanda Jensen, Parent/Community Representative

I was born and raised here in Tucson, graduated from the University of Arizona (Go Cats!) and love living here.  I am married and we have two children, one of them at Desert Sky and one at Cottonwood Elementary.  I think it is important to be involved at the schools and have been volunteering at the school and in the classroom since my oldest was in Kindergarten.  In the past I have volunteered with PTSA and site council at Cottonwood and I want to help where ever I can.  I feel that the arts are a very important part of a students education and want to support those programs.  We have come to love Desert Sky and I am excited to be part of the site council!

Kiki Ngo, Parent/Community Representative –

My name is Kiki Ngo. I currently have an eighth grader at Desert Sky. Our five older children have attended here in the past. I am active in Desert Sky MS PTA and Vail Pride Day. I embrace the culture of Desert Sky and feel very honored to be serving as a site council member to continue the effort in keeping our school an A+ school.

Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, I am one of the few natives of southern Arizona. I graduated, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Prior to attending the University of Arizona, I attended Pima Community college where I received an Associate of Arts degree, with Honors; an Associate of General Studies, with Honors; and a Liberal Arts Certification. Throughout my time in college, I maintained a 4.0 GPA, was a member of and President of the Gamma Beta Phi Honor’s Society at the University of Arizona, as well as Phi Theta Kapa Honor Society though Pima Community College. I am married and together we have three beautiful children, whom are also in the Vail Unified School District, and keep us very busy with their academics and extra curricular activities such as softball and baseball.

Tucson has been my home for the last 20 years. I was born in Taiwan, came to New Mexico in 1991 where I became a US citizen. My two children were born here in Tucson and grew up in the Vail School District. I feel fortunate that they have had the opportunity to learn from many good teachers and have done well at school. Becoming a paraprofessional here at Desert Sky was the best choice I made; and I have been doing this job for the last 5 years. I enjoy the working environment, school culture, and the people I get to work with–both teachers and students.

Serving on the site council is a whole new experience for me. I appreciate this opportunity and wish to be a positive contributor to our school’s site council board.
