Meet Our Site Council
Lisa Higgins– Parent/Community Representative:
I am a Tucson native, and obtained my undergraduate degree as well as Master's in Public Health from the UA. After nine years living in Boston, my husband and I returned to Tucson and bought a house in the Vail School District (and have loved all three schools that our kids have attended). I've been the Associate Director of the Valley Fever Center for Excellence for the past 13 years. (Pre Kids) My husband and I have traveled to 34 different countries, and are looking forward to a time when life again allows us to return to travel adventures. This year both of my sons attend Desert Sky, and are having a fantastic year so far! In addition to being an all around great school, the CIP as well as Inclusion Programs have been especially impactful for them. I was the Chair of the Vail Inclusive Preschool Parent/Staff Organization, and am excited to now serve on the DSMS Site Council, since it's a school that has come to mean very much to my family over the past few years.
Brian Goodall – Parent/Community Representative:
I've lived in Tucson most of my life and have been actively involved in our community for the past 15 years as a church leader and director of various nonprofits. My wife, Kate, has been teaching in Vail schools for nearly 10 years and our two kids have grown up in the Vail School District. Both have attended Desert Sky Middle School (one currently) and I'm incredibly grateful for the role it has played in their lives. I care about this school because I care about my kids, their friends, and this community. I'm thankful to be able to give back by serving on this Site Council.
Natascha Blum – Parent/Community Representative:
My family has lived in Tucson for 13 years. When we originally moved here we searched for the best schools for our children to decide where we wanted to look for a home and are so thankful that we found the Vail School District. I currently have a seventh grader here at Desert Sky Middle School and a senior at Cienega High School who enjoyed three wonderful years here as well. I have been volunteering at their schools for the last eleven years and served as the PTSA President at Cottonwood for two years before serving on the site council there as well. I am excited to be able to be a part of the site council here at Desert Sky to be able to be involved and support the amazing Desert Sky community!
Joe Isaac- Certified Staff Representative:
I have worked in the Vail district for 9 years now and am excited to serve on site Council. I am going into my 7th year teaching at DSMS and can't think of a place I would rather be. I have an amazing wife, Kim, and two daughters that are products of the Vail District. My eldest is a graduate of Cienega and is currently a freshman at the University of Arizona where she is a member of the Pride of Arizona. My younger daughter is in 8th grade at Rincon Vista and is hoping to follow in her older sister's footsteps and March in high school and play for the Pride!
Kristi Hill – Certified Staff Representative:
I'm an Arizona native and a proud Wildcat alumni along with my husband and three incredible children! All of my kiddos grew up in the Vail School District and attended Desert Sky. When my oldest started here, I immediately fell in love with our campus, our people and our policies. I have worked here for 10+ years now and consider my time as a DSMS Cougar to be some of the most joyful years of my life! Desert Sky is a special place and I am very pleased and honored to serve as a certified representative on our site council. The cougar staff, students and parents are a pleasure and I will work diligently to represent their interests.
Cynthia Weeks – Classified Staff Representative
As a 4th generation Arizona native, I will always have a special place in my heart for our beautiful desert. I spent most of my youth in Tucson and I am especially proud of belonging to such a wonderful and diverse community in the Vail School District. I am thankful for my 5th school year at Desert Sky in the Special Education department and I have always loved the welcoming atmosphere of the staff and their dedication to every student. I look forward to serving our school and community and to collaborate to continue offering the highest standard of education to the best of our ability. Thank you, Cynthia Massey Weeks
