Welcome From Your Friendly DSMS Volunteer Coordinator

Hello Desert Sky families!

My name is Denise Wactor and I am the new Volunteer Coordinator here at Desert Sky. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about our volunteer program and myself.

My husband and I have lived in Rita Ranch for 16+ years now, and I remember like it was yesterday. Researching and weighing our decision to move to Rita Ranch because it was in the highly desirable Vail School District! I have been a ‘Vail parent’ until 2 years ago when my youngest daughter graduated from Empire and is now studying at the U of A. And, as a proud mom of the Vail School District, I must say that I am super excited that my son recently accepted a teaching position here at Desert Sky!

For the last 8 years I have had the pleasure of working as a monitor, and have seen many kids come here as sixth graders and return as well adjusted young adults! Building relationships with kids has been what I loved since day one!

We have an outstanding tradition of Volunteerism here at DSMS and it is exciting to have the opportunity to help others discover the joy of volunteering. The Vail School District Motto is, “Where Education is a Community Effort” and we couldn’t fulfill that motto without our Volunteers.

We have countless opportunities to volunteer whether it be in the classroom, at our book fairs, health screenings, school pictures, the VEF Fund Raiser, Vail Pride Day, science fair, field trips, and much more! We need you – your talents, compassion, time, and energy! YOU are a valued piece of our educational success!!

I am very excited to step into the position left behind by our gracious Miss Tonya, but with your help I will do my best to facilitate serving you, our school and our kids!

Please feel free to call, email or stop by and see me. It would my privilege to meet you and tell you more about how to get registered to volunteer.

Thank you!
